We are all searching - for meaning, for truth, for what drives and fulfills us within. In doing so, we are often confronted with a crucial question: Who guides us? The spirit, our true core that connects us to the highest values? Or is it the mind, a tool to be shaped and used? It is a question that concerns us all, for it determines our individual and collective destiny.
The Spirit: The Inner Man, Our True Self
The spirit is our innermost core, our access to all that is spiritual, pure and eternal. It drives us to strive for higher things, to evolve and to find a way beyond the earthly. Spirit is the bridge that connects us to creation - to its light, its truth, and its love.
But that bridge begins to falter when we fail to recognize its importance. Spirit can only work when we give it space. It is not loud or intrusive. Its power lies in its depth, its stillness and its clarity. But these are the qualities we lose when we make the mind - a tool - our master.
The mind: a tool, not a master
The mind is a gift. It helps us master our earthly lives, solve practical problems, and organize our daily lives. It is there to serve the spirit by translating its will into the visible world. But what happens when we make this tool our master?
When the mind takes over, it remains trapped within the limitations of the earthly. It can only comprehend what is material. And so it leads us further and further away from the spiritual, into a world of narrowness, materialism and separation. This "wisdom of the mind" leads us to doubt all that is divine and to rely only on what we can see. The result? A life that calls itself progressive, but actually takes us backwards.
Our Common Legacy: The Struggle Between Spirit and Mind
Look around you: We all feel the effects of this misplaced priority. The glorification of the mind has created a world of division, suffering, and confusion. But these problems don't start "out there." They begin within. For each of us carries this inner conflict: Do we let the Spirit guide us, or do we rely on the mind?
This struggle affects all of us. It is not the fault of governments, churches, or institutions. It is our own responsibility to put reason in its proper place - as a servant, not a master.
The Way Back: Spirit as Guide, Mind as Tool
It is up to us to restore this order. Spirit must take the lead, for only Spirit knows the path that leads us out of the confines of the earthly. Reason must no longer close the doors through which the light of truth can flow.
This process begins within ourselves. It takes courage to look honestly within and tear down the walls we have built for ourselves. But when we free the mind, when we make room for it, we can see the big picture again. We can connect - with each other, with the spiritual world and with creation.
A wake-up call for us all
We are at a turning point. Each of us has the choice of which path to take. Will we continue to put reason before spirit and get lost in the material world? Or will we focus on what is essential - the spirit that lifts us up?
It is time to make that choice. Not tomorrow, but today. Not alone, but together. Only then can we contribute to a world that works and lives - in all its beauty, truth and depth.
