The Blessing of Work

"For whoever has, more will be given to them, but whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken away." (Luke 19:26)

Some may find these words of Christ difficult to understand or even contradictory. However, modern scientific discoveries confirm how profound and true they are. Nature itself teaches us this principle: In underground caves where no sunlight ever reaches, animals have lost their eyesight because they no longer needed it. There are species of ants that rely on others to provide for them – and over time, their own abilities to gather food have weakened and atrophied. Likewise, certain plants and animals live as parasites, unable to nourish themselves, and as a result, they become physically weaker.

All these examples reveal an essential law of nature: Use strengthens, neglect weakens. This applies not only to the body but also to the mind and soul. Those who train their abilities will see them grow stronger. Those who neglect them will eventually lose them. This is the deeper meaning behind Christ’s words, as also illustrated in the parable of the entrusted talents.

For those who work diligently and strive forward, this is a wonderful promise: Your efforts will bear fruit! Even when success seems distant, your labor will be rewarded. At the same time, it serves as an important reminder for those who fail to use their talents: Unused abilities will fade away over time.

This truth holds especially for the spiritual realm. Those who actively engage with the deeper questions of life, who nurture their connection to the Creator, will grow inwardly and gain profound clarity. However, those who neglect this inner source drift further and further away from it. Some believe that rejecting God makes them more enlightened or intellectually superior. Yet true spiritual greatness is not measured by mere intellectual power but by the ability to perceive deeper truths.

Faith is not a matter of intelligence – it is a gift that, like any other ability, must be practiced. Let us take the time together to strengthen our inner connection to the Creator. Let us nurture our spiritual potential and experience how new horizons open before us. Let us walk this path consciously – and shape a future together, filled with wisdom, strength, and trust.
